Kudos keep rolling in for Pixar alums Robert Kondo and Daisuke Tsutsumi.
Long Beach Indie Film Fest honoree The Dam Keeper garnered an Oscar® Award nomination this past year for Best Animated Short Film and keeps collecting accolades.
Directed by former Pixar art directors Robert Kondo and Daisuke Tsutsumi, the dreamy animated short took home Long Beach Indie honors in 2014. The Dam Keeper is the story of Pig, an introverted youth who lives in a windmill and keeps a dark fog from engulfing his town. Though he endures social rejection by his peers, he is befriended by the artistic Fox.
Kondo and Tsutsumi began developing the film while working on Monsters University and produced it through a Pixar co-op program. The two have recently worked with the San Francisco Film Society on its Filmmakers in the Classroom initiative, introducing fourth grade students at Rooftop School to character development and other valuable story creation exercises within the Rooftop’s English curriculum.
Dam Keeper producers Megan Bartel and Duncan Ramsay are Pixar alums as well.
